Victor Stanzel Co. History

It's a great opportunity to collect your favorite STANZEL model!

STANZEL products were first made available to the retail hobby industry in the early 1930's.  It all began with design and manufacture of World War I scale model airplanes conceived by two brothers Victor and Joseph Stanzel.

The business of model airplane design and development progressed throughout the 1930's, 1940's and the early 1950's with the introduction of 15 to 20 fuel powered models which were sold in kit form to model builders and hobby shops.  During this period numerous mechanical control line devices were designed and manufactured and patented by Victor Stanzel Company, including mono-line control system.

Control line flying was advanced by the Stanzel brothers in the 1950's with the development of single or Mono-Line control.  It was a definite breakthrough that enabled model aircraft flyers to do stunt maneuvers and break speed records.  Victor Stanzel is known as Mr. Mono-Line.

In recent years, Victor Stanzel continually refined and perfected control line devices which resulted in obtaining a new patent in 1997.   More than 20 patents were issued to Victor Stanzel in the field of model aircraft design and control systems during his 70-year career.  He designed and developed a remote controlled, jet-propelled battery operated jet airplane in 1987 which was patented.

In the 1958, Victor Stanzel Products entered a new phase.   Victor and Joseph began to design, develop and manufacture numerous models of toys for children 6 years and up that are recognized as Ready-to-Fly models.  During the period from about the mid-1958 to the present time, a total of 30 aeronautically oriented model planes, cars, rockets and boats were designed and manufactured.  New items were continually introduced into the STANZEL line.  Today, there are 12 flying models of airplanes, helicopters, jet propelled planes and spacecraft, trigger launched planes and space shuttles manufactured and sold to the retail toy trade.

In summary, this represents 70 years of intense effort, imagination and focused attention by Victor and Joseph Stanzel in the development of the most respected and quality oriented and diverse line of aeronautical products, which have been sold to most parts of the world.
