| The Thunderbird Stunt Plane has
adjustable control surfaces that may be pre-set, before launching,
to do Loops, Rolls, Wing-Overs and other acrobatic
maneuvers. A Spring Powered, Trigger Release, Launch Gun is
provided for launching the plane.
The adjustable control surfaces are illustrated on the drawing
at right. The Ailerons on the wing tips are indicated by
"A" and the Elevators at the tail, by "E".
To launch the Thunderbird, mount the plane on the spring rod of
the Launch Gun by grasping the nose forward of the wings and
pushing the plane against the spring until the trigger hook
catches the latch ring of the plane, as illustrated.
In
mounting the plane on the Launch Gun, never grasp the tail and
attempt to pull the plane against the pressure of the spring...
this may break or tear off the tail of the plane.
After
mounting the plane on the Launch Gun, point the gun upwards or
skyward... never point in the direction of bystanders. At
close range, inadvertent launching could cause injury to them.

FLY SAFELY:
Always fly the TriggerJET
Thunderbirds in an open space and never launch them in the direction of bystanders.
LONG RANGE FLIGHTS: Beautiful long
range flights can be made by leaving the adjustable control
surfaces in neutral position before launching. Minor
adjustments may, however, be necessary. Should the plane
dive or fail to climb on launching, the Elevators should be
adjusted "Up" very slightly. On the other hand, if
the plane climbs too steeply, stalls and then dives, adjust the
Elevators "Down" slightly. Slight adjustment means
moving the trailing edge an amount equal to only about the
thickness of the Elevator, or less.
LOOPS: To do Loops, adjust both Elevators
"Up" by moving the trailing edges up an amount equal to
about double the thickness of the Elevator. More or less
Elevator adjustment may be required depending upon wind conditions
and other factors. |
ROLLS: To do
Rolls, adjust the Aileron on one wing tip "Up" and the
Aileron on the opposite wing tip "Down"... move the
trailing edges of the Ailerons up and down an amount equal to
about double the thickness of the wing. For Snap-Rolls,
leave the Elevators in neutral position and for Slow-Rolls adjust
the Elevators "Up" slightly.
WING-OVERS: Wing-Overs,
Emmelman Turns and other acrobatic maneuvers can be done by
varying adjustments of the Ailerons and Elevators.
FORMATION FLYING: Thrilling
acrobatic formation flights can be made by the use of two
Thunderbirds and Two-Gun launching, or by simultaneously launching
three or more Thunderbirds, as illustrated. |
